Ben Cohen

Rugby star to launch LGBT foundation

 7 March 2011

The 32-year-old rugby union player, who is currently looking for Premiership opportunities after being informed that he is not needed at Sale Sharks next season, announced his plans on his website.

“This summer I am heading the Ben Cohen Acceptance Tour to the USA,” he wrote.

“We are working with gay/ gay-friendly rugby clubs holding events and dinners and spreading a message of acceptance and mutual respect for everyone and also raising money for my soon to be formed foundation, which will be supporting existing charities and organisations working with the LGBT community.”

Exact details of the Acceptance Tour will be released shortly.

Cohen, who is a married father of two, has a history of supporting gay rights and has also posed for gay magazine Attitude.

In 2010 he donated a signed jockstrap to be auctioned in support of the Gay Men Fighting AIDS (GMFA) charity.
