Feng Shui may need adapting for gays
Everything in Feng Shui is about architecture, design, the flow or energy, and how an individual can benefit or be affected by it

What Feng Shui can do for gays and lesbians
A few years ago Feng Shui was all the rage in the UK and other western countries, and everyone, straight and gay people alike, wanted to Feng Shui their home, their dog and their tofu burgers.
Feng Shui was seen as a blend of Asian home decoration, and a nice spiritual philosophy which cleared the burden in our lives while clearing our clutter: double whammy! Of course we got it all wrong...
To be honest, I first followed the same Feng Shui tips and books ten years ago, and I became the perfect encyclopaedia of the westernized Feng Shui.
Very excited by the prospect of becoming rich, famous, and especially to get Abercrombie and Fitch models lining up for me after hanging wind chimes and mirrors, I decided to convert my whole place with the help of a western Feng Shui “master”.
Sure enough I ended up living in the Chinese equivalent of a Pierre and Gilles painting, surrounded by a very dubious decoration with a lot of red, plants, spiralled crystal, three legged-toad statues and tutti-quanti. It was not exactly harmonious, rather like the Liberace-open-a-shop-in Chinatown kind of decoration; but I was convinced it would change my life and that Jared Leto would soon beg me to become his boyfriend, so it was worth it.
Well, after a year of exhausting all my Feng Shui tricks and resources, nothing changed in my life, except that many of my friends doubted my tastes in home decorating. I was still earning a very low income, and my relationships were the gay equivalent of Dynasty, with all the drama but none of the glamour of Joan Collins.
However, rather than giving up I decided to go to the core and after numerous flawed learning experiences in France and Canada I moved to Malaysia to learn it properly. I finally found a genuine Chinese master who over four years taught me the true classical Feng Shui and date selection techniques (Master Ham, from the Han Wu lineage for the technical point).
It was an incredible journey. What I have learned had nothing to do with the fallacy of the “Mac Feng Shui” we have been exposed to.
Everything was about architecture, design, the flow or energy, and how an individual can benefit or be affected by it.
Once I applied that demanding approach connecting the personal destiny and a place, I saw amazing results on my income, my relationship, my wellbeing and the opportunities coming into my life. Those were measurable and lasting results, and not just a temporary feel-good effect (otherwise called the late-night-on-Hampstead-Heath effect). The results on businesses were equally spectacular. To me there was no turning back, and it became my profession to fix people’s lives or businesses with Feng Shui. I did not get Jared Leto but a gorgeous boyfriend in the end, so I did not feel ripped off.
So what about our gay lives?
Feng Shui can provide exactly the same thing for gays that it has for straights for centuries of use in China. However, the challenges of our lives sometimes require a little bit of adaptation for gay clients.
While traditional Feng Shui was about the male power and the stability of the family, those powerful techniques can also be used to enhance the attractiveness and fun-factor in a gay life; and the money income of both partners is boosted, while traditionally only the husband was dealing with this aspect.
I often consult for couple with two husbands, two wives or even single gay parents: so whatever the lifestyle and goals might be, Feng Shui can enhance all aspects of them.
The fun part is when I have to deal with some gay businesses willing to see a large increase of their benefits: working on the plans of a gay sauna is definitely not a situation Chinese Feng Shui masters talked about 2500 years ago!
