Gay travel: NYC is the number one destination for gay people in the US

New York to get its first gay boutique hotel
New York City, frequently named as a top gay and lesbian travel destination, has heard that two developers are hoping to create its first gay boutique hotel.
Work and life partners Ian Reiser and Mati Weiderpass of Parkview Developers plan to turn an existing building in Hell's Kitchen on the West Side into the five-storey, 123-room Out NYC, complete with spa, restaurant, cafe and shops.
The duo says the hotel will be "hetero-friendly" and have as its centrepiece a 10,000 sq foot nightclub with space for 750 patrons, created with help from gay nightlife impresario John Blair.
Local newspaper Gay City News described the $20m project, which requires the agreement of the local community board, as "the most ambitious commercial development ever to court New York's gay community".
Tom Roth of Community Marketing told the New York Daily News: "Gays and lesbians travel much more than their straight counterparts, and New York City is the number one destination for gay people in North America."
