Recently voted Best Pride Event for the fourth year running by the readers of the Pink Paper, Manchester is one of the biggest UK gay Prides, attracting up to half a million visitors to Queer As Folk country, and raising over £780,000 for local LGBT and HIV charities in the process.
A whole series of gay arts, sports and community events is planned for the Pride Fringe in the ten days running up to the big Bank Holiday weekend, when madness and mayhem descend (in the best possible way) onto the area around Canal Street for a 78-hour gay party-thon.
Confirmed for the main stage is US chart topper, Grammy nominated and Brit award winner Kelis whose set will include her new single "4th of July (Fireworks)" from her new album Flesh Tone.
This year will also see performances from Chicane, Beverley Knight, Belinda Carlisle, Adam Rickett, Heaven 17 and many,, many more.
The gay Pride Parade will have a decidedly retro feel this year as it celebrates Pride Through The Ages, and making a return are the hugely popular gay Lifestyle Expo shows. The closing event will be the HIV Candlelit Vigil in Sackville Gardens on the Monday.
Tickets for the Manchester Pride Big Weekend are now available from the Manchester Pride website
